An Overview of Ms. Taylor's Blog

Welcome back to school!

If you are reading this blog, then either you or your child is entering 10th grade as a part of Ms. Taylor's English classroom. I am very excited for what I have planned for class this year!

Along with hard copies, I will also keep this blog up-to-date with current assignments as well as reminders of bigger projects and a brief overview of each new unit. This is to ensure that myself, parents, and students, always have access to the same information. Everyone should know what to expect of my classroom at all times.

Later this week I will also be adding a post that explains the required materials for my classroom as well as a list of my classroom rules. Again, this is to ensure that everyone is on the same page regarding my expectations for English 10.

I will also be posting a list of all of the books/reading materials that students will be covering throughout the year. This is for two main reasons:

1. It can be a valuable tool for any student who wishes to read ahead. Many students, especially those who are active in extra curricular activities, choose to do some reading ahead of time so that they do not fall behind because of practice or games.

2.  I want parents to be entirely aware of what their students will be reading in my class. Although all of my reading material has been approved by the school, sometimes parents have conflicting views regarding what their child should be reading in the classroom. If a parent sees something on this reading list that they are uncomfortable with their child reading, that parent should contact me ASAP so that we can work something out. If not, I am going to assume that parents are okay with the material chosen.

For the first few weeks of class, we will be reviewing some material that students went over at the end of 9th grade. This is to ensure that students retained the valuable information that was taught before summer break. Updates on specific assignments will follow.

This is going to be a great year!
